Samsung Galaxy TabSamsung just released the New Samsung Tab which is powered by the Android OS and picks up where Apple’s IPad left off i.e. Flash! I wasn’t really thinking of getting involved in the Tablet war but since I am interested in the Android OS and not being able to appease that by getting a Droid due to being an AT&T customer, this looks enticing. I have on the other hand been interested in an E-Reader, so again this looks enticing. There is one catch that gives me pause:

The Galaxy Tab can indeed be thought off more as an extra-large smartphone. It will be sold through carriers–large ones in the United States, Europe, Asia, and China, Samsung said, hinting that Verizon is a likely option. Indeed, unlike the iPad, there’s no version that doesn’t have 3G wireless networking and a carrier plan, though Samsung said such a move was possible with future models.

See there it is again “Verizon”! I will not have 2 cellphone plans just to get my hands on the Android OS! Unfortunately, I don’t want to switch carriers completely either. Hmmm.. Dilemma.
Well the Galaxy Tab doesn’t start shipping to the US until the end of the year, November most likely. So I have some time and so do they to get their ducks in a row. Either way, the tablet war has begun and I think Apple has their hands full with Samsung. Seems the Galaxy Tab packs a punch and is aiming for all of the IPad sensitve spots. We will just have to see where this goes.
