So you’ve played Assassins Creed 2 and now you want to know a little more about the Italian Renaissance? Well your wait is almost over. In 2011 Showtime is bringing one of the most infamous and intriguing dynasty’s to the small screen, The Borgias. You’ve heard the name Machiavelli, most notable made famous by 2pac Shakur, well now we will get to see what being Machiavellian is really about.

From the Official Showtime Site, “THE BORGIAS will be a complex, unvarnished portrait of one of history’s most intriguing and infamous dynastic families. The series begins as the family’s patriarch Rodrigo (Jeremy Irons), becomes Pope, propelling him, his two Machiavellian sons Cesare and Juan, and his scandalously beautiful daughter, Lucrezia, to become the most powerful and influential family of the Italian Renaissance.”

I am very excited about this show. With the Tudors having concluded, this show should sit very well in its place. Hopefully HBO’s A Game of Thrones also due out 2011 will not conflict with this show, but if it does that is what my DVR is for.
